„Mama, darf ich eine neue Federtasche haben?“
„Wieso? Magst Du Deine alte nicht? Die haben wir dir zur Einschulung geschenkt. Das ist doch noch gar nicht lange her?“
„Ich habe doch nur gefragt, ob ich eine neue haben darf.“
Gedankenpause…
Wieder habe ich mich spontan in die Elternebene mit meiner ersten Antwort bewegt. Mein Sohn fragte eine eindeutige Frage, auf die ich eine eindeutige Antwort hätte geben können.
Mein Kopfkino war aber so getriggert, dass ich ich die eigentlich Frage gar nicht beantwortete.
Er mit seinen sieben Jahren reagierte schlauer als es mir in meinem Alter gelungen war.

Ich habe mich mich – zum Glück – noch im rechten Moment gestoppt und lange darüber nachgedacht.
Wie oft passiert es, dass wir die eigentliche Antwort gar nicht geben?
„Möchtest Du heute Abend ausgehen?“
Ich muss die Kinder ins Bett bringen und die Wäsche liegt auch noch rum….
Was schlüsselt dein Gegenüber dann weiter?
„Gehst du gleich ins Bett?“
Bei der Arbeit, die hier überall rumliegt? Wie sollte ich da schlafen können?!
Wie fühlt sich die Antwort an, wenn die eigentliche Antwort sein könnte:
Nein, leider gehe ich noch nicht ins Bett.

Pause for thought…
Once again, I spontaneously moved to the parenting level with my first response. My son asked a clear question to which I could have given a clear answer.
But my head cinema was so triggered that I didn’t answer the actual question at all.
He, at seven years old, responded more cleverly than I had managed at my age.

I stopped myself – luckily – still at the right moment and thought about it for a long time.
How often does it happen that we don’t give the actual answer at all?
„Would you like to go out tonight?“
I have to put the kids to bed and the laundry is lying around too….
What does your counterpart then go on to key up?
„Are you about to go to bed?“
With all this work lying around? How would I be able to sleep!
How does the answer feel when the real answer could be:
No, unfortunately I’m not going to bed yet.
